Isaac Lancaster and Mary Ann Shaw

A Little Lancaster History

This page is a work in progress which I recently started for my daughter Gina and her grandmother Heather.

On Heather's birthday in July 2002 she asked me to see if I could find any of her siblings who she was estranged from in 1931 following the death of her mother Jessie. This led me to the following information.

Through a network of family researchers she is now in touch with her sister again, which is awesome, so thank you to you all who had a part in bringing them together! The best part? Heather is also in touch with other family members and now has a really awesome photo of her mother Jessie and a book on the family, thanks and *hugs* go to Susan Organ from SA for bringing it all together for her.

  1. Hello

    I saw your website. Congratulations.

I am the coordinator of the recently started Lancaster DNA project. I became coordinator because I am a Lancaster, and there was no group before me!

    Here is the website... http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Lancaster/

Even if you are not interested I'd appreciate any remarks you want to make. I feel a little bit like I am representing the whole surname!

    Best Regards
    Andrew Lancaster

  2. I am after any info on the descendants of Albert James LANCASTER (1883-1925) and his wife Maude Louisa CLARKE (1881-1955). So far I have Gladys D LANCASTER born 1907 in Manilla NSW who married John SMITH in 1927 in Manilla NSW; Emily A LANCASTER born 1908 in Manilla NSW; Eleathea B LANCASTER born 1910 in Manilla NSW who married Eric John GREER in 1944 in Manilla NSW; and Beryl Eileen LANCASTER born 1912 in Manilla NSW who married Bert BUSHBY in 1934 in Manilla NSW.
I am actually researching the CLARKE branch of the family but anything will be appreciated.

    1. Does your Clarke family include William Thomas Clarke 1885-1918, was killed in WW1. If so, I would like to hear from you as we are seeking a photo of him for a new Emerald Avenue of Honour.

  3. Hi Mary-Ann
That is all the info I have on this branch too..
There was a fantastic website at http://johngrono.su.com.au by Lea Buchanan but it seems to have disappeared and I can't find anything similar...

There are a couple of people I could put you in touch with that are researching the family if you would like to email me.

  4. Thanks Rhonda,
I have sent you an email.
Any grandchildren of Albert James LANCASTER and Maude Louisa CLARKE would be my third cousins.
By the way, you have a great site here, I still have to have a good look round. It is great to see someone as obsessed with cousins and ancestors as I am :D

Sorry Rhonda for not getting back to you sooner - I'm a bit new at this!! I'm working on a Family Tree for a friend of mine, and it includes Emily Jane Lancaster (nee Hatch). Our connection is through one of her younger brothers, Joseph Beavis Hatch (c.1864 - 19/8/1942 in NSW). He married into the Woolaston family in 1886 in the Manilla District, NSW. Joseph B. would be my friend's great-grandfather. Can you email me directly at:- gmcareavey@optusnet.com.au

    Thanks - Gabe

  9. Oddly enough, you & I might be related despite having different surnames. Peter Jeffcoat Lancaster of Australia & I match on 36 out of 37 markers on our Y-DNA tests. Peter passed on the above descendant chart to me. Isaac's father was John Lancaster & his grandfather might be Thomas Lancaster. It is possible that a daughter of Thomas had a boy by a Broach but decided to give the boy the surname Lancaster. That, I believe, is the way Peter Lancaster & I are related.

If you are interested in pursuing the ancestry of Isaac, please contact me.

    Thanks,

    Carter
